Rules for Admission and Transfer to the Faculty of Music Education

Postgraduate studies represent one of the two stages of university education. The first stage is for obtaining a bachelor's degree (Bachelor of Arts or Science), and the second stage is for obtaining (Diploma - Master's - Doctorate) and for preparing and qualifying teaching staff for the university.

To be enrolled for a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, in addition to the general requirements stipulated in the executive regulations of the Universities Organization Law, the following must be met:

First: The college accepts students holding a General Secondary Certificate in its both streams or equivalent foreign or Arab secondary school certificates under the following conditions:

  • Passing the music aptitude test conducted by the college.
  • Medical fitness, which includes auditory, linguistic, and motor fitness. Blind students may be accepted provided they have learned the Braille system.

Second: The college accepts transfer students from other colleges, not exceeding 10% of the number of newly admitted students, provided they pass the music aptitude test set by the college and meet the same admission score from the year they obtained their secondary certificate.

Required documents for applying to the college

  • Original and 4 copies of the General Secondary Certificate.
  • Original and 4 copies of the birth certificate.
  • 6 personal photos.
  • Nomination form.
  • Medical examination report.
  • Military Form 6 (for males).
  • Military Form 2 (for males).

Required documents for students transferring from other colleges

  • Status statement from the student’s current college.
  • Copy of the General Secondary Certificate form.
  • Personal photo.
  • Must have achieved the admission score of the Faculty of Music Education in the year of obtaining the secondary certificate.
  • Copy of the student ID card.
  • Certificate of good conduct.

Rules for Assigning Students to Instruments in the Preparatory Year:

  • The academic departments responsible for instrument instruction hold a presentation at the beginning of the academic year to introduce each instrument or the specialization in Western or Arabic singing in detail, so students become familiar with each specialization.
  • Students then register their preferences for instrument specialization.
  • Instrument selection takes into account the student’s abilities that qualify them for studying a specific instrument, and they are directed to the instrument that matches their capabilities.
  • If a student chooses the specialization in Western or Arabic singing, a test is held by a committee of specialized professors to assess the student’s vocal abilities and their suitability for success in that specialization.
