Operetta “El-Borooka” by the People’s Artist Sayed Darwish at the Republican Theatre

Under the patronage of:

• Prof. Dr. Shereen Abdel Latif, Dean of the Faculty of Music Education

The operetta “El-Borooka” by the People’s Artist Sayed Darwish was presented within the framework of the collaboration between the Cairo Opera House and the Faculty of Music Education, Helwan University.

The performance took place on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the Republican Theatre, marking the centenary of Sayed Darwish. This operetta was presented for the first time ever in Egypt and the Arab world.

The project, artistic vision, and musical training were led by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelkader.

It is noteworthy that the operetta El-Borooka has been performed only three times since it was originally composed by Sayed Darwish.
